When: Monday, December 19, 2011
Where: 1399 McAllister Street, San Francisco, CA 94115 (in the gym)
Time: 6pm-8pm

On December 19, 2011, Project GAP will be launched by The Charles A. Tindley Academy of Music, Back on Track tutorial program and the Third Baptist Church Freedom School with members of the San Francisco Foundation in attendance. Project GAP represents a combined effort on the part of these organizations to bridge the gap of academic achievement and cultural awareness among our city’s underserved youth.

This program will feature testimonials from both current and past students and their families. Also, it will feature the first public announcement regarding our new Specialized Teens Program which provides opportunities for personal character enrichment for African-American males between the ages of 13-17 through mentoring and family-based workshops.

Seating will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Both parking lots belonging to the church will be available as well as the parking lot at Ida B. Wells High School across Fulton Park.

If you or your child has benefited at all from tour program, please show up and help us to demonstrate to the San Francisco Foundation how essential our program is to the life and success of your young people.

With that, Tindley is proud to commend our student T.T. on earning two honors. Through his perfect 4.0 average, he’d on the Principal’s Honor Roll. He was also awarded Student of the Month in his Humanities class.

At Tindley, we provide a challenging and supportive learning environment for all students to achieve. Our goal: each child on the honor roll.

From 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Mondays through Thursdays, we offer homework assistance and special academic programs to students in grades K-12. Our expert tutors from the San Francisco Unified School District inspire students to their highest achievement.

Our students participate in extra academic programs like Stanford University’s Educational Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) and practicing for the California Standards Test with actual questions that have appeared on previous tests.

Black History Month provides us with an extra opportunity to show our students the importance of contributions made by African-Americans throughout our history.

This year, we focused on African-Americans inventors. While many already know the important contributions of famed African-American inventors like George Washington Carver, we presented information on largely unsung African-Americans who created and refined inventions we take for granted every day.
